EmailThread — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026 · Published by Northbit Apps
EmailThread is a browser extension that exports a complete email conversation into one print-ready page, with optional redaction of names and sensitive details. This policy explains what data the extension touches and what it does with it.
Summary
- Everything happens on your own computer, in your browser.
- We do not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any of your data.
- There are no accounts, servers, analytics, advertising or tracking.
What the extension reads
When you click Export thread (or use the toolbar icon or keyboard shortcut), EmailThread reads the email conversation open in your browser tab — sender and recipient names and addresses, dates, subject, message text and attachment names — on Gmail, Outlook on the web, Yahoo Mail, or another mail page you choose. If you open a saved email file (.eml or .mbox), it reads that file. It only does this when you ask it to.
How that data is used
- The conversation is used only to build the export page you see and to apply the redaction options you choose.
- To open the export page, the conversation is held in memory only (browser session storage) while the export tab is open. It is never written to disk and is removed as soon as you close that tab.
- Your display preferences (such as text size and message order) are saved in your browser's extension settings. They contain no email content.
- Files you download (PDF, HTML, TXT) are saved to your computer by your browser. We never receive them.
What we do not do
- No data is sent to Northbit Apps or to any third party.
- No remote code is loaded; the extension runs only the code included in it.
- No data is used for advertising, credit decisions, or any purpose other than the export you request.
Permissions
- Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo Mail sites — to read the open conversation when you export it.
- activeTab — to export from another mail page only when you click the extension.
- storage — to keep your settings and hold the export until the page opens.
- scripting — to reconnect to mail tabs that were already open when the extension was installed or updated.
Limited use
EmailThread's use of information received from websites complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
EmailThread is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
